Buch Construction: Building Big

The past few years have seen Buch Construction expanding its horizons, and the industry is taking notice.

A recent Construction Today article focuses on The Vine, Buch’s multifamily housing project in Laurel, Md. “The company is best known for constructing base buildings and retail structures,” notes the magazine, but goes on to explore how Buch is also making its name with large multifamily housing projects.

The Vine (above) is the newest such project, set to open in early 2018 with 283 units. It comes on the heels of the Shady Grove Metro apartment complex, which Buch completed in 2016, at nearly 450,000 SF with 418 residential units, parking garage, pool, lounge, cyber cafe, and fitness center.

The Vine’s 4-story, 536,742 SF residential building features top-of-the-line amenities, materials, finishes and equipment. A mix of one, two, and three bedroom apartment units range from 732–1662 SF, all with direct access to a 5-level/504 stall precast concrete parking garage. Since the parking structure is incorporated into the building design, all resident parking spaces can be accommodated in a structure that consumes 80% less impervious land area, offering a huge benefit environmentally to the project and to the overall community.

Construction Today credits Buch’s history of “working with clients for the long term, creating a symbiotic partnership for growth.”

“Buch Construction’s relationships with clients and subcontractors have always been more important to the Maryland company than pursuing a specific kind of project,” the magazine reports.

That approach has paved the way to success, both for Buch and for its decades of satisfied clients.
