Auburn University Spidle Hall Demolition
Auburn, AL
The Spidle Hall Demolition project marks our most recent endeavor at Auburn University, serving as the first step toward the construction of the new Barbara Drummond-Thorne Academic and Research Facility. We were tasked with abatement, demolition, and site stabilization of the existing structure, an effort that extended well beyond standard demolition practices.
Because the building’s lower level sat partially below grade, the team engineered and installed a temporary shoring wall along two sides of the footprint to ensure structural integrity. Using deep auger-drilled holes, vertically installed steel beams, and flowable fill to create reinforced pilings, Buch successfully stabilized the earth, allowing for controlled excavation and demolition without impacting nearby facilities.
This pivotal phase is paving the way for Auburn’s next chapter of academic expansion, demonstrating Buch’s expertise in complex, technically demanding site preparation.
