Carlyle Crossing
In Alexandria, Buch delivered a full interior fit‑out for a Wegmans store located within an urban setting. The scope of work included installation of all major mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems, along with decorative millwork and polished concrete flooring throughout the store.

Given the project’s location, construction was carefully managed to minimize disruption to surrounding neighborhoods. Buch coordinated closely with all stakeholders to maintain logistics, scheduling, and site operations in a constrained environment while meeting Wegmans’ quality and operational standards.

Rockville
The 92,677 SF store occupies the ground floor of The Milton, B.F. Saul Company’s 12‑story mixed‑use development in Rockville’s Twinbrook Quarter. The store spans five building levels and includes three equipment mezzanines and multiple parking‑level vestibules, serving as the project’s largest anchor tenant.

The 11‑month interior fit‑out required extensive preconstruction planning and hands‑on coordination across disciplines. More than half of the construction occurred after residents had moved into the upper floors, requiring careful sequencing, close communication with building management, and heightened attention to minimizing disruption.

The project included the installation and coordination of heavily engineered MEP systems, refrigeration, kitchen exhaust hoods, and fire suppression systems, each involving separate permitting and approval processes. Life safety testing required extensive coordination among Buch, B.F. Saul Company, associated contractors, and third‑party code review consultants. Energy‑focused features such as heat reclamation and advanced energy management systems were integrated to optimize efficiency and reduce energy demand, with all systems monitored remotely by Wegmans’ Central Station Operations team.

Wisconsin Avenue
Wegmans on Wisconsin Avenue is the grocer’s first‑ever location in Washington, DC. The 84,000 SF store is part of the City Ridge mixed‑use development and includes multiple specialty departments, in‑store dining options, and serves as a neighborhood gathering space.

Tight logistics and the complexity of building beneath an existing structure required extensive BIM coordination to manage the elaborate MEP systems. The project incorporated LEED‑certified standards and energy‑saving initiatives, including partially subsurface construction and heat reclamation systems designed to reduce energy demand and support HVAC performance.

Throughout construction, Wegmans representatives, the developer, Buch’s project team, and members of the surrounding community remained in close communication to ensure the project had a positive impact on the area.
