For the Hope Mills community in North Carolina, the new Target represents more than another place to go shopping. It will serve as an anchor for one of the largest commercial developments in the town’s history and a significant investment in the community’s continued growth.
That made it especially meaningful to mark the start of construction alongside the people who will ultimately visit, work, and live around the new development. Local officials, community members, and project partners gathered for the groundbreaking to welcome Target and celebrate what this investment will mean for Hope Mills.
Target District Senior Director Alyssa Hutton reflected on the community’s warm welcome during the ceremony:
“You’ve made us feel like we belong here before we’ve even turned over a single shovel of dirt, and we don’t take that lightly.”
That same spirit of partnership extends to the team bringing the project from vision to reality. Hutton recognized Buch’s team members as “the ones that are turning this rendering into a building,” thanking them for carrying the project forward beyond the groundbreaking.
Over the years, Buch has supported Target through major store renovations, full-store roll-outs, and specialty projects across its portfolio. As the relationship has grown, so has the scope of our work together.
Our scope includes site work and ground-up construction of the 126,000-square-foot store, featuring tilt-up construction, polished concrete floors, and a turnkey fit-out. From preparing the site through final completion, Buch is bringing its construction expertise to every phase of the project at the new location.
And Hope Mills is only the beginning of this next chapter. Buch has also been awarded another ground-up Target store in Clayton, North Carolina. Together, the projects reflect the continued evolution of our Target partnership while strengthening Buch’s growing portfolio and presence throughout North Carolina and the Southeast. Working alongside Target and Fletcher Bright Company, Buch is proud to be creating a destination designed to serve Hope Mills and the greater Fayetteville area for years to come. The new Target is anticipated to open in 2027.
Hope Mills wasn’t the only place Buch broke new ground this summer. Across the Mid-Atlantic, our teams are helping developers turn plans into active jobsites and create destinations that will serve their communities for years to come.
