Plumbers & Gasfitters Local 5 Union Hall

Buch has proudly partnered with Plumbers & Gasfitters UA Local 5 on multiple projects at their Lanham, MD campus. Each project strengthens the union’s mission of training and supporting members while providing spaces that bring the community together.

Union Complex                                                                                                                                    Buch constructed the new 20,000 SF Plumbers & Gasfitters UA Local 5 complex, including the full building structure and interior fit-out. The scope also involved the installation of underground utilities, a sitework package, and the construction of a new parking lot. Collaboration with the client was crucial to minimize community disruption throughout the construction process. The project included interior fit-out of the health and wellness center and assembly areas.

Training Facility
To advance Local 5’s commitment to innovation in the trades, Buch delivered a state-of-the-art training facility designed for year-round education. This one-story precast building, which achieved LEED Silver certification, houses mezzanines, conference rooms, classrooms, and specialized labs for gas appliances, plumbing fixtures, and back-flow preventers. The facility also features an 8,000 SF welding shop with space for future expansion, along with sustainable systems such as a rainwater harvesting system, solar collectors, and VRF mechanical systems.

Assembly Hall                                                                                                                                      Buch recently completed the transformation of an existing white box space into Local 5’s new Assembly Hall and Catering Service Area. The catering space includes commercial-grade stainless steel kitchen equipment, non-slip tile flooring, and FRP wall panels. The Assembly Hall was designed for both function and performance, featuring STC-rated acoustic panels, two retractable flat-screen TVs, and a custom millwork dais with a digital display board. Local 5 will host events such as graduation ceremonies in this modernized gathering space.
